The Archbishop, The Most Reverend Dr. Abraham Evangelou MBE

 

The Apostolic Christian Church (Sheepfold) was founded and established in 1996 by His Eminence, The Most Reverend, Dr. A. C. C. Evangelou MBE. He was born in Cyprus, a country with a rich heritage and significance in biblical history and prophecy as mentioned by Daniel the Prophet.

In Acts, the Apostle Paul visited Paphos on his missionary journey, and Barnabas, his co-worker was a Levite from Cyprus. And, according to tradition, Lazarus, whom Jesus raised from the dead was the first Bishop of Cyprus and was buried in the coastal town of Larnaca.

 

Archbishop Evangelou has been faithfully serving for over 30 years and has a wide and diverse experience in Ministry. He holds a Doctorate in Divinity and many other different fields of education. He is regarded as an authority on the Greek New Testament and his powerful seminars and teaching conferences have helped equip church leaders, empowering them to fulfil their God given calling.

 

He is also the President of the Ixthus Church Council, and with his continual leading and guidance, the work of the Council has gone from strength to strength and is renowned and respected worldwide. In 2016 the Ixthus Church Council was received into membership of Churches Together in England. This has given opportunity for the ICC to work with the multicultural and denominationally diverse churches in England and has a part in contributing and shaping CTE’s future plans and developments.

 

Archbishop Evangelou has pioneered Global mission and humanitarian work and has participated in various Ecumenical and Government forums and meetings; He has worked alongside Bishops and Archbishops of various denominations, as well as Members of Parliament. Over the years Archbishop Evangelou has travelled to many continents and ministered to millions of people around the world.

 

He has also been instrumental in the funding and overseeing of various award winning and nationally recognised community projects in London and in Africa. One of these projects received the prestigious Queens Award for Voluntary Services, which is the equivalent of an MBE. In the 2019 New Year’s honours list, Archbishop Evangelou was awarded an MBE for his services to young people in North London.
